Ashley’s Shocking Fate in The Boys Season 4 Finale Sparks Fan Theories About Her Powers

3 min read

The Season 4 finale of Amazon Prime’s The Boys delivered the kind of high-stakes drama and shocking moments fans have come to expect, but one character’s sudden twist has left viewers theorising wildly about what could be next.

While the episode featured an especially disturbing scene between Billy Butcher (played by Karl Urban) and vice president-elect Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), it was the unexpected development involving Vought CEO Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) that truly set fan discussions ablaze.

In a tense moment, Homelander (Antony Starr) commands Ashley to provide a list of Vought employees who may hold damaging information about the Seven. Knowing that disobedience is not an option, Ashley reluctantly compiles the list and presents it during a meeting with the Seven.

However, before the meeting properly begins, Firecracker (Valorie Curry) instructs Ashley to leave the room. Once she’s gone, Homelander asks the remaining members to begin eliminating the individuals on the list. The Deep (Chace Crawford) seizes the opportunity to point out that Ashley herself likely knows more than anyone else about the group’s secrets. Homelander casually agrees — and just like that, Ashley is added to the hit list.

The moment is jarring, but it’s what happens next that has sparked intense speculation. As viewers last see Ashley, a strange ripple moves across her scalp — a scene that has led many to believe she may be developing powers of her own.

Long-time fans of the show will recall that Ashley suffers from trichotillomania, a psychological condition that causes an uncontrollable urge to pull out one’s own hair. This detail, combined with the peculiar scalp moment, has led to some fascinating theories.

One popular theory doing the rounds suggests that Ashley may be turning into The Boys’ version of Medusa — a character from Marvel lore known for using her hair as a weapon. “I’m guessing the scalp scene is hinting at her getting powers similar to Marvel’s Medusa — controlling her hair like a weapon,” one fan wrote online. “It would be such a clever twist considering how much hair she’s lost due to her condition.”

Another viewer added, “I thought the same. My only hesitation is how expensive that kind of CGI would be, but maybe it’s something like Zoey’s Medusa powers — more subtle and retractable.”

Although it remains unclear what exact role Ashley will play in the show’s fifth and final season, fan predictions are growing bolder by the day. Some believe she could take on a more active role in dismantling Vought from the inside. Others predict a personal vendetta might drive her to go after The Deep, especially considering their long-standing tension, which escalated significantly in Season 4.

For now, her fate hangs in the balance — as does the fate of several key characters heading into the final chapter. With the stakes higher than ever, it’s anyone’s guess who will make it out alive.

As of yet, Prime Video has not confirmed a release date for Season 5. Given the lengthy gaps between earlier seasons, fans may need to wait until 2026 to see how Ashley’s story, and that of the entire series, comes to a close.

One thing is certain: The Boys isn’t finished with its surprises — and Ashley Barrett’s next move could be one of the biggest yet.
